Time to catch up .A year in one post .Young Artists at large

Oww i've been very lapse ! so many artistsI've been been on and been snapped upand i can't get to crow about it coz Ididn't tell you about them beforehand . Well I'm here now to right that wrong .

Firstly Sarah Field has had another killer show at Michael Reid's gallery .Mark my words institutions are going to fallin love with this girl .
Another just coming on to the radar is Yanni Floros just picked up by Svott Livesy .Very much in the mold of Zavros just a wee bit more Y gen !

Big tip now Brendan Mccumstie , www.mccumstie.com , check out his sculpture.cheap and damn good .(but notfor long)
Thomas C Chung .Google him .Very quirky stuff.
Ryan Pressley just picked up by Jan Manton boy is kicking goals and he ain't had a proper show yet
Marita Frasee ,Marita Fraser Marita Fraser Marita Fraser .Ahh wait get in line I'm first !! (p.s find at James Dorahy)

Moving on into the commercail artworld . Stencil Based. Damn good stuff . Particularly like the lighter fluro stuff , birds etc over the darker skulls . (yawn ). google her -you'll like

Sarah Field young artiste !!!

Now showing at Michael Reid's gallery in Rushcutter's Bay. Is a really interesting show by the mentioned artist . Mark my words we are going to be hearing more from this young lady in years to come . I can fully see her becoming a darling of the institutions . Anyways for the moment they are very affordable . Ridiculously so.
Definately worthy of a new blog post after the christmas hiatus.

Must see show - Hilton Owen

Hilton Owen is now showing as part of a group show at Harrison gallery ( till end of Nov ). I believe it's his first show on the mainland (he's a taswegian).
Anyways check it out . i really think this kid has a lot going on .

Economy on the rise

If Art is any guide . We here in Oz are coming out of our lull!
Galleries ,Framers and even little ol me are busy bunnies at ze moment .
Ok so not everybody is feeling the love ,but key indicators are we is rebounding sister!

Hilton Owen . mega talent!!

Hilton Owen is a 19 year old still at art school in Tassy (n.b refer to previous post ).
One can check out his work online at Handmark gallery in Tasmania . Should this excite you . then you will be able to find him at Harrison gallery in November .
I would group him with the Qld artists Anthony Lister ,Anthony Bennett and Dane Lovett (pre his latest academic endeavours!).
The kid has a mega load of talent . I just hope that he trusts his instinct and doesn't become another who becomes technically brilliant yet devoid of flair.
Many from the academic domain wouldn't be happy that he is even contemplating having exhibitions before he has graduated even worse before he's done his masters .
Yet I would say if your art has an audience it doesn't matter .
Anyways diatribe over just watch for Hilton Owen !!!!

Phillip Wolfhagen

Sellout exhibition in Sydney at Dominic Mersch's Dank St gallery following on from his sellout show with Phillip Bacon earlier this year . The man is da flavour of the moment . Admittedly one has to pull out the art to match but he is the darling of the moment (Del Kathryn must be relieved !)
So popular 70 souls are happy to go on a waiting list at said gallery !!!


footnote - Tasmania really is an interesting breeding ground for artists !
